Quality checks are being carried out on food given to children as
part of noon meal schemes in schools and anganwadis across the state in
the wake of the noon meal tragedy in Bihar which has so far claimed the
lives of more than 20 children. Food Safety Commissioner Biju
Prabhakar said here on Wednesday that inspections were carried out in 50
schools and 59 anganwadis in rural Kerala. The reports are being submitted to the Commissionerate. Orders were issued for conducting the inspections in the wake of the Bihar incident. The
inspections will continue in the days ahead. For lodging complaints

several admitted to hospital after eating food distributed as part of
the noon meal scheme at a primary school in Saran district of Bihar.
